Publications
A working record of books published by The Women’s Press, London — twenty-five years of live authors and live issues.
This archive reminds us of some of the enduring publishing successes of The Women’s Press across its principal genres. The Press began publishing in February 1978 and went on to publish between 500-600 books, along with art calendars, the famed Women’s Artists Diaries and the much-loved “Livewire” list for younger readers. Many of the writers found new readers through The Women’s Press Bookclub, started in 1980. The writers – from so many cultures and backgrounds – were widely celebrated for their courage and often ground-breaking analysis and insights, as well as for the pleasure, understanding and inspiration they brought to readers. (Some of these books remain in print with other publishers. Some TWP editions can be accessed via 2nd-hand booksellers. Your thoughts welcome via our Contact page.)
